Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

One thing that I told myself a long time ago that always stuck in my head was “do something today that your future self will thank you for”.
Often times we see people who are successful in a certain area of life whether it be in their chosen profession, physically, emotionally or they just seem to have everything “figured out” and we only see it for what it is on the outside, but the thing that often gets overlooked is what it actually took to achieve that level of success. People either chalk it up as them being “lucky” or having some sort of secret that’s allowed them to achieve what they have or perform at the level that they do. The thing that people don’t see is the relentless effort that’s put in day in and day out in order to get there. The hundreds of disciplines that are performed each and every single day that are necessary in order to get one step closer to achieving the goals they’ve set out to achieve. It can be difficult to grasp the understanding of it to some people, of what actually sets those successful people apart from the rest because of the limitations that they’ve put on themselves. In their mind there’s only a certain level of success they can achieve, there’s only so far that they can go. Whether that’s because of their upbringing, the people they spend time with, the things they’ve been told and listen to, whatever the reason for it is they’ve already set a limit to what they can achieve before they’ve even begun. The truth is, the only limitations that a person has is the ones that they’ve put on themselves. The thing that sets apart those who achieve a high level of success isn’t luck or some secret. It’s the feeling of certainty they have and confidence knowing that all their goals and aspirations in life are possible to attain if they take the steps necessary in order to get there. The “luck” people refer to is the moment when opportunity meets the accumulated years of consistent hard work. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, it doesn’t matter what kind of upbringing you had, it doesn’t matter what color your skin is or what gender you are, it doesn’t matter if you’re broke and don’t have any friends. The only thing that matters is that you are here, and as long as you are here then that means you have opportunity, it means you have choice, and that choice is to either do something that will bring you one step closer towards achieving the things you want or bring you one step further away, and the biggest step back you can ever take is putting limitations on what you can or can’t achieve. Don’t worry about where you are right now, don’t worry about not having the “resources” available in order to attain the things you want, it’s not about having the resources it’s about being resourceful. It’s about taking that first step with the intentions of achieving your goals no matter how difficult or far away they may seem. I am the person that I am today because of what I did yesterday, and I will be the person who I want to be tomorrow because of what I do now. The choice is yours.
